Allam Lecture 2017

The Endowed Allam Lecture series has become a prestigious annual HYMS event within the University of Hull and local business community. The 2017 Allam Lecture is, again, kindly sponsored by Dr Assem Allam.

We are very pleased that Professor Richard Underwood, Professor of Cardiac Imaging at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London, Honorary Consultant, and Director of Nuclear Medicine at Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals, will be joining us to present the keynote lecture this year. Professor Underwood is an expert in non-invasive cardiac imaging, with major clinical and research interests in nuclear cardiology, magnetic resonance, and cardiovascular x-ray computed tomography.

In addition to Professor Underwood's lecture, the afternoon will also showcase the latest biomedical research from the Centre for Cardiovascular and Metabolic Research (CCMR).

The event will conclude with a ‘have your say' question time session, where members of the audience are invited to direct questions to Professor Underwood and our panel of experts from the fields of Respiratory Medicine, Cardiology and Diabetes and Endocrinology.

We invite members of the public to attend this free event and learn about some of the exciting and leading research currently being undertaken in Hull.

Online registration is now available. Click here to book your place.

Abstract submissions

All CCMR and allied staff are invited to submit abstracts for an oral presentation at the 2017 Allam Lecture. We are looking for short presentations (10 minutes maximum) from your area of research. For those abstracts not selected for an oral presentation, a poster can be presented in the poster session, which will take place in the Derwent Café. During the poster session, you will be required to stand at your poster, answer questions and discuss your work. Prizes and certificates will be awarded by the panel judges for both oral presentations and posters. All successful abstract submissions will be invited to attend the evening’s Gala Dinner.

To submit an abstract please complete and return the blank abstract form below to j.l.crawford@hull.ac.uk. A completed example abstract is also provided, along with guidelines on poster size and layout. The deadline for abstract submission is Friday 24 March 2017. The audience will be made up of staff, students and general public alike, so please tailor your abstract accordingly.
